Dinkytown
The University crowd is so big that it has created its own city which is known as Dinkytown. In this area, crowned by the Dinkydome, you can find many aspects of college life: bookstores, stores, restaurants, and copy centers. But there is more to Dinkytown that that-- the streets resemble a small village and cover an area of about four square blocks. Restaurants, bars, and music venues can also be found. Annie's, the Loring Pasta Bar, Kitty Kat Club, and Cafe Espresso Royale cover just a few of the "night life" and campus hang-out options in the area.

Stadium Village
The Stadium Village neighborhood centers around SE Washington Avenue, which is where Coffman Union and Boynton can be found, and Oak Street.  As you move east from Coffman you will find a number of restaurants and coffeeshops, including Big 10, Lotus, and Sally's.  Oak Street Cinema has movie showings which are often older films, cult classics and the like.

West Bank
West Bank is the smaller section of the Minneapolis campus and is separated from East Bank by the Mississippi River. This part of campus is just a few blocks from the Metrodome and downtown. There are many points of interest near the corner of Washington and 19th Avenue South, including the $1/hr parking garage (located adjacent to the Holiday Inn). Popular eateries include Noodles, Chipotle, and Quizno's Subs, to name a few. This area also boasts an Aveda Salon, convenience store, a coffee shop, and a Washington Avenue Bridge Circulator bus stop.

There are several theaters in the area, including the Theatre in the Round, which presents classics and 20th century pieces in a small arena setting. To gather with friends for a night out, try Sgt. Preston's or Grandma's. For night owls, the Hard Times Cafe is open late and attracts a diverse array of people.

Uptown

Uptown is a commercial and residential community in south Minneapolis surrounded by Lake Calhoun, Dupont Street, 31st Street and 28th Street. Its core lies at the intersection of Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue, a lively and upbeat business district. The area is diverse and always full of activity. Uptown is home to great restaurants, eclectic movie theaters, books, art, music, up to date shopping and unique coffee shops. Of course, we wouldn't be in America without at least one Starbuck's. Head out to Urban Outfitters, Gap, Heartbreaker or Local Motion for great apparel and fun accessories.

Uptown seems to have a little of everything, but this is especially evident in its variety of restaurants. At Wild Noodles, you'll find unique American, Italian and Asian noodle dishes from celebrity chef Eddie Matney. For a taste of the Caribbean, try Bilimbi Bay. Chino Latino is the place to go for great food from around the globe. It'll lighten your wallet, but is definitely worth it. Award-winning barbeque and live music is at Famous Dave's. For your Italian cravings, go to Pizza Luce II for great pizza with over 50 toppings. At night, try out The Independent.
